On the afternoon of May 18th, 2021, the Confucius Institute at MSLU held a thematic calligraphy lecture for Chinese calligraphy lovers in the CI office Б-105: "Chinese Calligraphy: The Pearl of Chinese Traditional Culture".
Sheng Xuemei, the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at MSLU, attended the lecture. Yu Wei, a teacher of the Confucius Institute, delivered the lecture. From the aspects of the nature, the historical evolution and the classification of Chinese calligraphy, Mr. Yu comprehensively sorted out the historical development of Chinese calligraphy and its basic theories, which deepened the students' understanding of calligraphy art and laid the foundation for their calligraphy learning and practice. During the lecture, Yu Wei demonstrated and explained the basic rules and writing techniques by brush pen. The students participated in the calligraphy copying activity with great interest. The Confucius Institute at MSLU presented each student with a postcard of the Confucius Institute at MSLU with a hand-carved seal.
The atmosphere of the activity was lively. The students have deepened the understanding of Chinese Calligraphy from the teacher’s lecture and the demonstration as well as the on-site practices by themselves.
