The year 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. The Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders launched the ninth "Language of Flowers" Ritualized Education Exhibition and invited SEU international students from 11 countries as international volunteers to participate in this activity on October 24.
The United Nations was formally established on October 24, 1945. In 1947, the General Assembly of the United Nations set October 24 as the United Nations Day, with the theme of maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations, and promoting international cooperation in economic, social, cultural, and human welfare.
The theme of the "Language of Flowers" Ritualized Education Exhibition is "Embracing the Wood and United as One." With big trees as the primary modeling body, branches decorated with flowers symbolizing peace and friendship, 75 elements of the United Nations blue flag to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. The whole work implies that countries are in harmony with each other in the soil of peace, and the tree of friendship grows from "small pieces" to "cuddling trees."
Walid, a newly-admitted student, gave a speech about his feeling of peace. He said that peace represents happiness and wellness, and we shall always cherish peace.
Volunteers offered the olive branches of peace and formed a circle to embrace the tree of peace. May the tree of friendship and the light of peace remain with us forever.
After the event, the SEU teacher and international students visited the Memorial Hall. After visiting and seeing survivors' pictures, victims' remaining, and the invaders' brutality, all the international volunteers promised and vowed to work for peace and prosperity.
