Insurance Purchase Proof (students without full-scholarship are required to provide).

Please take from SEU:

1. Most new Students' Campus ID Card can be obtained by International Students' Office (ISO) when you register. For the others, please apply for SEU Campus ID Card at Campus Card Center with your passport and the certificate issued from International Students' Office.

2. When registering, please collect the Undergraduate Student Handbook or Graduate Student Handbook from the International Students' Office (ISO). Please be sure to carefully study the above handbook, understand and comply with the school's rules and regulations. However, some regulations such as student awards evaluation, student funding, and fee payments do not apply to international students. Please refer to the specific regulations for international students (you can consult the College of International Students, or refer to various documents and announcements published by the College of International Students).

2. Settling Down

New students may go to the dorm manager's office on certain campus for check-in formalities after arrival. 

Normally double rooms are provided (i.e., each student should share room with one other student). You can find a roommate by yourself or SEU will help you to find one. Family members and Non-SEU Int'l Students are not allowed to live in SEU Students' Dorm. The university does not provide marital dorm rooms.

Show your passport to your dorm manager and apply for Registration Form of Temporary Residence on the day of check-in.

If you choose to live off campus, please come to International Students' Office and find your counselor to apply. Then leave the telephone number of yours as well as your landlord's and the address of your apartment to ISO. Besides, please apply for Registration Form of Temporary Residence from the local police with the help of your landlord within 24 hours.

3. Physical Examination

You should take the physical exam at Jiangsu International Travel Healthcare Center before applying for Residence Permit. (Web: http://m.js.ithc.cn/contact)

Online appointment: Please Scan the QR code First to complete the physical examination appointment, and follow the appointment time for medical examination.

Tip: Please go there in the morning without breakfast. Please bring your passport and 2-inch photos (white background). If you have a physical examination report in your hometown, please present it to the Healthcare Center for a new report. After obtaining the medical examination report, please present it to the International Students' Office.

4. Get the Bank of China Card

All students need to open an account in the Bank of China and register the card number to International Students' Office. This card is used for every kind of scholarship & refunding from SEU. 

5. Fees Payment

Self-financed students must pay one year's tuition and accommodation fees before registration of each academic year. If you have remitted tuition fees to the account of SEU, please go to Ms. Wei's Office (RM116 of Teaching Building No.1, Dingjiaqiao Campus) in School of Medicine (MBBS students) or International Students' Office (non-MBBS students) with the receipt from the bank to check whether SEU has received it.

Self-funded students should pay the accommodation fee for one academic year before dormitory check-in, and non-degree students (e.g.,advanced students, language students) should pay the bed fee corresponding to the study programme. The accommodation fees for each academic year is about RMB6,000(electricity or water bills are not included in this amount).

6. Come to Int' l Students Office again

Please register your mobile number to your counselor in International Students' Office after you buy one.

Note: Please register your valid email, address, telephone, WeChat and other information in time. Once the information is updated, you must inform the International Students' Office in time to ensure that the school can contact you personally.

Please present your physical examination report to the International Students' Office.

Then you can apply for Certificate for Resident Permit Application from International Students' Office.

7. Get Residence Permit

Please go to Nanjing Exit-and-Entry Administration Division of Public Security Bureau to apply for a residence permit.

Address: 173 Bai Xia Road. Near Changfujie Station of Metro Line 3.

If you are in Jiulonghu campus, you can go to Exit-Entry Reception Hall of Jiangning Sub-bureau of Nanjing Police Station for residence permit application.

Address: No.2 Yangjiawei Road, Jiangning District.

Please take along all the following documents:

(1) Passport

(2) Copy of the personal information page of your passport, and copy of the latest visa page with the stamp of admission at the frontier.

(3) One ID photo, with white background ( two inches in size, taken recently, show full face and front view, taken in normal attire, do not wear a hat that obscures the hair or hairline)

(4) The report of physical exam from Jiangsu International Travel Healthcare Center

(5) JW201/202(you got via email when being admitted)

(6) Certificate for Resident Permit Application from International Students' Office (get it after you pass the physical exam, clear all the fees and buy the insurance)

(7) Registration Form of Temporary Residence (get it from dorm manager. If you live outside, get it from local police station or doing it online by searching 微临住”in WeChat)

(8) Fee:1 or 2 years: RMB400/year; 3-5 years: RMB1000.

Note: You must finish the above procedures within 30 days upon your arrival in China.

After completing visa (residence permit) extension and obtaining a new visa from Exit-and-Entry Administration Division, students must take a photo of the visa page and send it to the visa teacher's email address daiyanyan@seu.edu.cnfor registration and verification.

Remember to check the valid period of your Residence Permit and you should come to International Students' Office and Exit-and-Entry Administration Division to extend in time before date of expiry. If the expiry time is in holidays, you should come before holidays. 

Remember to check the valid period of your passport. Make sure to finish renewing your passport if it expires before your residence permit expires.

Generally it costs 20 working days for you to get your visa from Exit-and-Entry Administration Division. Please extend your visa in advance if it is urgent.

All student visas (residence permits) can be extended for a maximum of one year each time. Self-funded students should pay the tuition fees (strongly recommended to pay online) for the new academic year before the end of July every year and purchase the insurance , then you can get 1-year visa. If you fail to do as required, you will fail in semester registration, which also cause failure in visa extension.

Without the permission of the International Students' Office and the Exit-and-Entry Administration Division, you are not allowed to do any form of work or internship in China.

8. Begin your study

If you are a student taught in Chinese and your Chinese level (HSK) is below the requirement of your program, you should study Chinese firstly (check your admission notice). You need to go to Chinese Language Center (RM201) for the timetable of Chinese courses and take the Chinese Placement Test before you start your Chinese courses around the beginning of September.

After you finish your Chinese study and reach the required Chinese level (takes about 1 year generally), or your admission notice mentions you can start the major courses directly, you need to contact your Academic Affairs Office (RM403 of CIS Building ,Tel:83792663) for your educational program and then select your courses online around 1-2 weeks before the new semester starts under the help of teaching affairs staff, your supervisor or graduate secretary.

Your Campus ID Card number is different from your student number which is used to login. Please find out your student number and password with RM403.

If you are an International Chinese Teacher Scholarship student, please contact the Confucius Institute Office (RM401) for more information.

After registration, students must strictly abide by the management regulations of the university. If there are any abnormalities, students should report in a timely manner. Without approval, you are not allowed to leave the university (or leave Nanjing). Students are required to participate in teaching activities as required. If you need to take leave, please contact the International Students' Office in advance. If a student fails to participate in SEU's teaching activities (including research activities arranged by supervisors) for more than two weeks without approval, fails to complete semester registration on time, or engages in serious disciplinary violations that meet the conditions for proposed dropping out, SEU has the right to expel the student, expel the student status, and cancel the student's visa.
