10月9日下午，东南大学2021级新生开学典礼在九龙湖校区举行，国际学生新生参加典礼。来自巴基斯坦的永强同学作为国际新生代表发言，他说：“东大是我的第二个家！正是因为对学校的热爱，我选择继续留在这里深造。” 永强表示，将牢记“止于至善”校训，带着希望与梦想，开启全新的校园生活，实现自己的理想。
2021 SEU Opening Ceremony for New Students was held in Jiulonghu Campus on October 9, international students attended the opening ceremony. Waqas, from Pakistan, gave a speech as the representative of new international students. He said: SEU is my second home; I stay here for further research because I love my school; I will start a new campus life with hope and dream.
国际新生还参加了“新生开放日”活动，品茶、写书法，感受传统文化，在交流互动中体验丰富多彩的校园生活。新生们纷纷表示，开学典礼让他们感受到学校厚重的历史文化，使他们对东大的认同感与归属感更加强烈。巴基斯坦籍博士研究生阿莱姆第一次在大草坪参加开学典礼，感到很开心：“学校组织的各项活动很有意思，我和其他同学乐在其中。”孟加拉国籍硕士研究生沈孟很高兴有机会在东南大学学习：“老师们充分了解我们的想法，并表达他们对我们的希望与祝福。我希望未来国际学生能有更多的机会参加这样的大型活动，我们能够表达自己的看法，并与老师保持沟通和交流。”
New international students also joined Open Day for New Students. They experienced traditional Chinese culture including drinking tea and writing calligraphy. International students who attended the opening ceremony are proud of being SEUers.
Alam from Pakistan: It was an amazing and open environment. The weather was good on that day. The activities arranged by SEU were very interesting. The different research groups showed us their achievements. so we enjoyed a lot.
Rasel from Bangladesh: I am very happy to have the opportunity to study at Southeast University. I am proud to be able to complete a master's degree in this university. The atmosphere is very good, and the teachers are very interested in expressing their feelings about us and understanding our thoughts. I hope that teachers will organize more such large-scale events for international students in the future. We will participate in them and express our ideas, and try to establish collective communication with teachers.
