As Southeast University hosted Freshmen Art Show on December 16, students from College of International Students amazed everyone’s present with an astonishing performance! 12 students from 11 countries including Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kingdom of Jordan, Madagascar, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Thailand, Pakistan, Cambodia, Chad and Cape Verde were dressed in sparkly red and white sophisticated Russian traditional, they looked dashing like young Russian boys and girls. It’s correct to say it was a diverse representation of international students!
Sitting down with these talented dancers left us inspired, for they have narrated their stories enthusiastically with a lot of energy. Over two months they have practiced for the performance and they danced to the song “Moscow Kadril” by an artist named Kadril. This is a Russian folk dance, with steady steps and great coordination. The dancers pulled off an amazing performance. It looked effortless, airy, and freeing on the stage. They danced happily, it was a pleasing performance even for the viewers.
When we asked what inspired them to join the dancing performance for the international students group, Lars from Democratic Republic of the Congo said: “Because the world is made of different cultures and learning other cultures is always being the best way to integrate into a society. So this was an amazing opportunity for me and my friends to experience the Russian culture. “ For other students they were inspired to join the dance to make new friends . Dilma, a student from Cape Verde, is currently studying her PhD program. She mentioned her love of art inspired her to join the group.
The group leader, a talented student Palvanova Guljahan from Turkmenistan shared that during the preparation all the students were very active, for two months every evening they found time to practice. The mood was good for everyone, everyone joked, laughed and it was very fun. In addition, they became friends because the preparation brought them closer. A dream has come true for performing on the stage and showcasing the dance!
Finally, the audience left with happiness because of this amazing performance from the international students. The whole team felt they achieved the targeted result, they truly appreciate the opportunity they received to represent international students in Southeast University. They hope that the other international students can also take up the challenge of taking part in school activities.
