On December 18, 2021, Ying Zhang, associate dean of College of International Students of SEU, with her students and colleagues participated in the Fifth China-ASEAN Forum. This forum was jointly sponsored by China-ASEAN Center, Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government Foreign Affairs Office and Nanjing Tech University. This forum attracted education counsellors and education officials from Thailand, Indonesia, Laos, Vietnam and other countries, as well as nearly 100 distinguished guests and international students from 19 universities.
"Jiangsu-ASEAN Exchange Week" is an essential component of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the dialogue relationship between China and Southeast Asia. With the theme of "shared responsibility, co-creation and sharing", the communication and exchanges were carried out about the life of studying in China under the impact of the epidemic. It demonstrates the idea of a community with a shared future of mankind that faces the storms and stress together to fight the epidemic, shares the experience of innovative development concepts, and creates a new era of intelligent interconnection. This forum also depicts the story of cooperation between China and Southeast Asia.
Trin Phaktra from Cambodia, as a representative for SEU, delivered a speech titled "China in My Eyes", sharing the life of our students under the epidemic, and expressing the deep feelings of "We Are Family" . The speech displays her sincere emotions of knowing China, being friendly to China and loving China.
2021 is the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the dialogue relationship China-ASEAN. Higher education, especially the education of young international students, is the essential part of deepening cooperation between Jiangsu and ASEAN with the concept of "higher-level, broader field and larger scope". International education is also a strong guarantee for supporting the high-quality development of the regional economy. In recent years, Southeast University insisted on the path to make education international, and actively participated the country’s opening-up strategy, and carried out cooperation with countries and regions along the “Belt and Road” in technological innovation, and cultural exchanges. In the future, SEU will continue to carry out in-depth exchanges and cooperation with ASEAN universities and strive to improve the level of international education.
